After Local Link announced it would cease all its bus services there were fears many areas could be left without vital links, yet new operators have now hit the road for many of them.
Torbay Buses have taken over the former 62 (Torquay - Cockington), 108/109 (Foxhole Circular) and routes to Sainsbury’s. A further operator will provide the new 125 service replacing sections of the former 25, 67, and 67B routes.
In an exciting move Torbay Community Development Trust (TCDT) has joined forces with a team of dedicated volunteers to take over the 60/61 bus service between Paignton and Torquay. This new community led service (renamed the 60) offers passengers a similar route and will run on Saturdays, giving residents greater flexibility to travel at the weekend.
Kevin Foster MP said: “The announcement by local link was a shock, but the work done by Torbay Council, TCDT and local companies to keep these services running has ensured vital services are maintained. There is still work to do in terms of some services that have been lost, but a team effort has helped maintain many vital services.”After Local Link announced it would cease all its bus services there were fears many areas could be left without vital links, yet new operators have now hit the road for many of them.
