Torbay local MP, Kevin Foster, today questioned the Prime Minister about the future of our local hospital in Paignton.
Kevin also recently met with the senior management of South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The future of our much valued hospital in Paignton was very much on the agenda.
Kevin has noted the recent statements from the Trust about the possibility of Paignton Hospital closing as part of a development of a new model of care designed to support people closer to, or in their own homes. Kevin understands that the purpose of this approach will see increased investment in local community services, but has made clear that he has considerable concerns.
Kevin accepts that the building itself at Paignton Hospital may be old but the needs and services it provides his constituents are very modern.
Kevin will be insisting that the Trust replace and not remove services from Paignton, and that if it does not Kevin will lead the local community in opposing these plans.
Kevin will provide regular updates on this matter as he attends meetings and meets constituents over the coming weeks.
